While it’s easy to be snap happy with the camera, organizing and placing photos in albums is a never-ending task.
- First, sort photographs by date. If your picture-perfect memories are from long ago, focus on several telltale signs. Look at hairstyles and clothes. Do you remember the outfits? Next, examine the background to tell when and where? Then, mark the dates on the back in pencil. Avoid using a pen as the ink will eventually bleed through and ruin the front of your photo.
- Assemble photos by date in envelopes or shoeboxes. Date the outside with permanent marker and order them chronologically. Or arrange them in categories for Summer Vacation, Holidays, Sporting Events and Daily Life albums.
- When placing photos into albums, start with the earliest time frame and work toward the present. If this approach seems monumental to you, start with the present and vow to keep up from here on so as not to fall any further behind.
- Be sure to label the spine of each album with a paint pen for easy retrieving. If you have children, consider creating an album for each using duplicate or look-a-like photos. Add some artwork and even a quick blurb on your reflections. Then when they fly from the nest, share the albums as a gift from the heart.
- When you have a few moments while watching television or chatting on the phone, arrange photos into albums. By working for 15 minutes several times a day, you’ll put this task behind you in no time.
Keeping up with photo organization is easy and fun. Make the time to sort through a few today!
